Does anyone else have problems with fatigue after Remicade?

I have been on Remicade for over a year now and always had a problem with some fatigue after my infusion when I was on 5MG/KG, but since moving to 10 it is much worse. On 5 I usually slept about 16 hours, but on 10 I have slept about that much per day since my infusion on Wednesday and it's now Friday with the same results. I just wondered if anyone else has the same problem and if so, do you know why? I keep meaning to ask my doctor about it, but I am also on several medications for mental illness and they sort of make your memory go down the toilet and I can't remember to ask when I get there. =/

Some report fatigue during or after remicade infusions. Do you premedicate with benadryl as that will do it during the infusion. Hasn't happened to me, after my remi infusions. Perhaps others who have it too will comment.

The nurse gives you one Zyrtec, but I have always been resistant to sedatives
. I have woken up twice while anesthetized for colonoscopies so far. The last time was kind of funny because I kept hearing him say "open.. close" and I thought he was talking to me. It took a second to realize he was talking to the surge tech. Then afterwards the nurse was telling my mom how I couldn't understand them talking and wouldn't remember anything and I let her talk until she went away and told my mom "she is awake and she remembers a lot." I just thank God that I was only conscious for the colonoscopy and not them going down my throat.

i don't get any pre-post meds. just the Remicade. at 10 mg also. For me I notice a bit less energy the next day, but nothing that really slows me down or changes my day or sleep.

i remember reading that fatigue was a possible after infusion while researching the drug. It is also possible it is a combined effect of your pre-med and you mentioned being on other meds as well.

perhaps put a sticky not anything you would bring with you to your next gi's visit (health card? appointment calendar?? to help you remember to discuss it.)

I'm at 5 mg. In the best of all possible worlds, I would stay home and pamper myself the next day, but I can keep up with regular routine if I need to. I'm not really sleepy, just really tired and drug out feeling. (More like when I was hypothyroid.)

Fatigue is fairly common after an infusion but don't ignore the possibility that the zyrtec is contributing to your fatigue. Zyrtec can konk me out. It's not supposed to make you sleepy but extreme fatigue is listed as a possible side effect. Try a different antihistamine such as generic Claritin and see if it makes a difference.

I take zyrtec every day for my allergies, so in my case it isn't the zyrtec. The only other pre-med for me is Tylenol, but I also take that routinely for my joint pains.

It's either the remi or just me being lazy!

I always had my infusions on Fridays so I could rest all weekend.

I was on 10mg/kg every 6 weeks. I would pre-medicate and post medicate with benedryle. After my infusions I would usually get home around 3 and sleep until 7pm wake up and do some stuff go to sleep again @ 10pm and sleep for 12 hours straight. The next day I'd usually be full of energy. I was in Remission most of my time on Remicade.

I'm on Humira and usually feel a little more tired after I give myself a shot, usually the next day, but it's not long lasting and not a whole lot worse than the fatigue I usually feel, it's just slightly heightened after a shot for me.
