I've developed a dependency to Prednisone

I am almost 4 weeks post ileostomy (9/16/14) and wow what a crazy ride it's been! Apparently I've developed a dependency to Prednisone (not shocking as I've been on it for 3 years) and they needed to boost my mgs and keep me a little longer (6 days ). I also had a partial blockage shortly after being sent home which led to naseau, vomiting and of course dehydration. After another 3 nights in the hospital everything has been going great! My only issue now is a bad irritation around my stoma. Apparently my stoma is weird- not a circle or even an oval, more like an ellipsis. The opening is at the bottom so the acidic waste is just going right on my skin. Oh and the stoma doesn't stick out so I need a bag with a curve on the wafer part. My stoma nurse is at a loss- we have tried different powders, glues, skin barriers... no real relief. My only love is coffee but when it comes out I cry it's so painful so its been water and Gatorade for me. I can't wait for my let down surgery- I schedule it at my next appointment Monday.

Any suggestions until my take down for skin irritation? Thanx guys!
