Hi Guys as i have researched UC it is very rare in asian countries like mine in the Philippines.

just want to know if there are someone else here Asian?

I am Indian and was diagnosed with UC in 2000. But I like in the UK

I'm not sure it's as rare in Asian countries as statistics suggest. I think a lot of it is due to poorer rates of diagnosis in these places. I know very many UCers of Asian 'descent'.

I am of Indian descent, was diagnosed in Sweden, 7 years after moving out of India, now living in the US.

Your observation is correct. IBD is not as prevalent in poor/developing countries as much as Western/Developed countries. It is not my observation that there is poorer diagnosis. I know very few Indians in India with IBD (One of my cousins is a GI) but I know many Indians in the US/Sweden with IBD.

SE Asian here, diagnosed with UC some years ago (now with Crohn's)... but have lived in America for close to 20 years. I hear every time about relatives and family friends back home who complain about stomach issues and such.

I am not Asian but live in area of London with a high South Asian population and every one of my Asian descent work colleagues seems to have someone with IBD in the family! I was told by a GI that the prevalence of IBD in 2nd generation and later Asians in the UK is now as high as it is in the Ashkenazy Jewish population which used to be always highlighted in the UK as the population at biggest risk of IBD.

Someone once linked on here a paper specificially about growth of IBD in Asian descent children, if you do some searching you may find it.

Indian descent- Living in US from 1998. DD got UC in 2011.
Now a days relatives and friends says-stomach related issues are becoming so common either as IBS or food allergies.
2yrs back I tried our luck to get hold of the GI's of all well known hospitals in south India to do fecal transplant. The moment I said to receptionist- call is regarding UC patient- they said if its for surgery they are so filled up!!!
I know colon cancer is climbing up in 60-80 age grp peoples in my small state of India.

I am of Chinese descent but moved to New Zealand when I was young. Diagnosed October 2012. I know plenty of people (of all ethnicity) suffering some form of ibs

I also believe that it is not rare in our country just poor diagnosis or simply others just think they have diarrhea or hemmoriods.
