Remicade approval

Anyone remember how long it took for remicade to be approved by their insurance company?

Hi! I'm new to the forum. I've been on remicade for several years and it didn't take long. I recently tried humira and returned to remicade yesterday. My GI doc's biologic nurse faxed it to my insurance as urgent and had approval the same day despite their tendency to be difficult and cheap.

Every insurance company is different but I actually called my insurance company when even the thought of Remicade was in my GIs mind at the time to find out if it was a covered benefit for UC. Luckily in my case, it was covered 100%.

You can always call your insurance and see where they stand.

A few weeks for remicade approval, I believe. You just need to have tried and failed meslamine-based drugs (lialda, asacol hd) and immunosuppressive (6mp, imuran) meds before hand. Skip those and approval might be harder. Your doctor should handle it all.
