Lab-developed intestinal organoids form mature human tissue in mice

Someday they might be able to grow us a new colon.

Hopefully this might lead to a better humanized mouse IBD model,but might be difficult do to the mouse immune

system.

Looks really cool. Anything that can lead to more accurate models of disease for research is great. To be able to maybe one day conduct research from tissue grown from a variety of IBD patients could yield really great results. After all, it seems like a whole host of awful diseases have been cured in mice, but at a huge expense of lives of mice. It's the price of research, but if we were able to do research on working human tissue, we could get so much more done much more quickly than trying to recreate disease in mice models which may not even be accurate at all.

That could still be a long time away, so I'm not holding my breath or anything, but it is definitely cool to see positive developments like this. Thanks for sharing OM.
