Hi all,
I recently decided to see a naturopath to help me transition from birth control to bioidentical progesterone to manage my endometriosis and ovarian cysts. He explained that birth control pills can really tax the liver, especially when someone has been taking them for 20 years. I have two months left of the BCP and during that time he would like me to do a mild liver detox with Apex Energetics Hepato-Synergy. The supplements are mainly vitamins, milk thistle, dandelion, and some things I've never heard of, like gotu kola extract and cordyceps extract. I don't believe there are any stimulants. I read a Chris Kresser article recently and he also recommends this kind of detox for someone transitioning off of birth control. I also read several articles (one was on the Dr. Mercola website) highlighting how birth control affects the liver.
Is it safe for someone with UC to do this type of liver detoxing with supplements? Are there any downsides to taking them? I'm planning to start them soon and wanted your opinions.
Thank you!!!
