No, there is a difference between Diverticulosis and Diverticulitis. When pockets are found it's generally referred to as Diverticular disease. When diverticulum is found, it means that you have some "pocketing" but there are varying degrees. The beginning stage, mild, moderate and severe.
Diverticulosis is just pockets of varying degrees and certain foods can't be eaten. I can't have seeds, nuts, popcorn, corn or celery. Those things tend to snag in my pockets causing me intense pain.
Diverticulitis is when those pockets become infected because of different reasons. Most times it's due to foods getting stuck in the pockets. Usually when it's infected, antibiotics are used and low residue diet is to be followed until the infection passes.
You should ask your doc about your results the next time you see him/her.
