I know a lot of you on this forum take this probiotic with success. I was thinking of starting it.
However I started reading about
it on the VSL website and it mentions that people who are taking immunosuppresant meds should not take it. I am on azathioprine.

Hmm, never heard that. I've been taking them both for years without problem.

It's because if you're immunocompromised you may be unable to fight off bacteria. I don't think it's a problem for the type of doses you'll be on, but it could possibly make the probiotics less effective.

I never spotted that on the website.
Some UK members have been able to get vsl3 on NHS. I had no luck but worth trying to see if your gp/ gastro will prescribe it. I think you can get a little gassy when you first start so maybe start taking half a sachet initially.
