I had a grandfathered plan up till the first of this year, over the last two years I had it premiums increased by 24% and 10%. When I told them I was changing plans, I was told I would miss out on what their grandfathered plan provided me, I guess that was their inflated premiums.
Sometimes being grandfathered into something isn't a good thing. Some grandfathered plans didn't meet the new requirements and that is why insurance carriers had to discontinue them. If I had stayed with my grandfathered plan I would have had basically the same coverage and the same high or higher premiums.
