OK ..  so I was diagnosed with UC about 3 years ago, I've had 2 colonoscopies but I missed this year's appointment. But I started on Lialda, than Asacol, now Lialda. I only take 1 pill a day, when I take it. .. BUT after 4 days of taking it, I start getting migraines .. IS THIS NORMAL ?

 

ALSO, ive been overly tired, and getting pains that make my stomach feel tight, im not sure if its the uc, does this happen to anyone else ?

I'm sorry the Lialda is giving you headaches. You need to tell your GI about this so you can figure out another approach to treating your UC.

I had normal headaches from time to time. I get them now too with sulfalazine but im just used to it. Check the side effects of the medicine, and talk to your doctor about it

thank you for a reply. I just wanted to know if anyone else had any of these issues so I can link the symptoms too the UC

yeah, is it because of colitis or the pills ?

I have tightness in my stomach at night.

Perhaps the only way to find out it is if you get these same kind of migraines on asacol. If so, you might be getting a reaction to 5ASA drugs (asacol, lialda, pentasa, etc).

It's impossible to tell from your post about anything regarding your UC. You haven't told us about your disease. You have told us that you don't take your meds all the time. I have no idea what is going on with your UC.

UC does not generally give people headaches, but Lialda can.

The rest of it sounds like UC, but no one here can tell you anything about that given what you have written so far.

sorry, I was writing quick im at work ..

at night or ever, I get slight cramps that turn into either pressure pains or sharp pains. my stomach sometimes feels "tight" .. those are the pains.

I get headaches usually but after I take the lialda for a couple of days, I get migraines that are horrible.

I was just making sure that was the pain cause I don't have blood in my BMs all the time. but the disease is so new too me so I am unsure of what the pains are that im feeling.

How often do you have blood? What about diarrhea? Where is your inflammation? Have you been losing weight? Are you eating a regular diet?

These are the kinds of issues that help us understand what is going on with you.

I am having terrible effects from Asacol H 800 mg 3x a day. At first I would get headaches, then I would feel like something awful was coming from my stomach, heartburn, stomach cramping. I went off them on Wednesday, but still having stomach cramps (not as intense though) and heartburn. All of these are mentioned in the list of side effects for Asacol I would suspect for Lialda too. Sorry your feeling bad I can sympathize with you.

I had none of these symptoms (except occasional heartburn) prior to taking Asacol.
