hemorrhoids, no sphincter muscles & librax

so i just had a rather disappointing appointment with my doctor this morning.

1) it looks like i have some really bad hemorrhoids. he said i'm going to have to get them banded - so what should i expect? preparation? do they put you under? poop problems afterward? recovery time?

2) apparently i have almost NO sphincter muscles. he shoved his fingers up there & i squeezed as hard as i could & he couldn't even feel it!
for this issue, he prescribed me librax - i have to take it daily. has anyone else had this prescribed? will this help to strengthen the muscles i have lost? any info on this would be greatly appreciated!
