Levi, I wasn't flaring when I first started this Budwig mixture, but before when I tried eating flaxseed oil I didn't feel well, just like Old Mike. I came across an article about
Budwig which said that this oil is absorbed best in such combination with skimmed cotttage cheese, it must be 0% fat, if not it will not work. As Johanna Budwig was German and it is close to Poland she was using a kind of Polish cottage cheese which is called "chudy twaróg", although, I guess that every eco skimmed (curd) cheese will do. According to dr Budwig's protocol, the type of flaxseed oil is of crucial importance. It cannot be bought at your local supermarket, because it is stored in improper conditions plus such supermarket oils contain more omega-6 acids which can do more harm for UC. The right flaxseed oil should have more omega-3 acids (about
57%), raw and it all should be stated on the label. The bottle should be dark and placed in the fridge all the time. As for Polish flaxseed oil (the best flaxseed oils are considered to be from Poland and from Kazachstan), the best variety is called "Szafir" and it is more dense than other oils. I buy it in some local eco shops. In the articles I've read it was said that this Budwig mixture is very good for colon problems (including UC and CD) and it is a booster for the immune system. I personally feel very good after eating it. I've read that she was nominated 7 times to the Nobel Prize and some of her ardent followers believe that the fact she didn't get it could be attributed to the global conspiracy of the pharmaceutical companies

OM, maybe you should try flaxseed oil again in this mixture, because I also had bad experiences with taking oil alone. I used to buy it in the supermarket, so it was overloaded with bad acids (6-omega) and now I switched into different, eco sources, reading the labels carefully.
