Infant dies from contaminated probiotic

Ugh, I give my son probiotics daily (flora star for kids). How can you even be careful with this? Can't tell if it is contaminated...so what's a mom to do?

Solgar is/was a good company been around for years and years,before many of the others.
Everyone pretty much thinks that probiotics even uncontaminated ones are totally safe, well there
not. There are a few cases on medline of general infection even from lacto bacteria.

Its rare but it happens.

I wouldn't worry too much about this. There's always some kind of contamination on something somewhere somehow sometime but the odds are pretty low and you have a much greater chance of being harmed in a car accident. You can't live your life in such fear that you don't eat anything, drink anything, take any drugs or supplements, use any products, etc. or even drive your car. The odds of having a bad side effect from a biologic are much higher.

Isn't it also a reason they suggest to not give babies honey? the bacteria in it can cause issues too..
