New to UC - Looking for advice.

I was just diagnosed with IBS at my doctors on Friday after a day of abdominal pain, given a script for Linzess. Unable to eat at all, pain so bad Saturday that went to ER Sat night. Bloodwork and scans shows UC and a blockage in my small intestine. Now on five meds (for pain, inflammation, infection, nausea and IBS). I have not eaten anything except two jellos and a pudding since Friday. I am terrified to eat and unsure what I can and can't have. Websites say all different things, and I do not want to do anything that may aggravate this condition. Got appt with gastro doc for Jan 9 but after looking at scans, they moved my appt up to this Monday. I am completely lost and don't know what to expect. Help!

advice for combined IBS and IBD is difficult. You should try a liquid or very restricted diet for a while, and then try to learn what foods may worsen your symptoms.

Looks like they will want to do a colonoscopy and perhaps an endoscopy. Blockages are dangerous. Hopefully the GI is talented, experienced and a good diagnostician. Keep us posted, and welcome.
Don't be afraid to call their office and get advice before your appointment. Bring all of your medical records to speed up decision making and avoid duplicate tests. Stay hydrated.

I can't give advice on blockage, sounds very unpleasant though- I'm sorry you are going through that. I will give a bit of general UC advice that I've picked up through experience, though.
First of all, I'd keep a "just in case" kit in your purse or car, and in that kit you should have, at minimum: wipes, spare underwear, grocery bags (for transporting dirty clothes either home or discreetly to the trash if they are that far gone), and leggings/pants that can roll up small. This might sound like TMI, but trust me, you'll be grateful when/if the time comes to use it. You do NOT want to be stuck in a bathroom stall without a paddle if you can help it. Having a kit like this has been a real lifesaver for me.
Secondly, keep travel sized wipes in the glove boxes of every car that you routinely travel in. Again, might seem weird, but you will be glad to have them.
Also, you'll start to do this anyway, but it helps with peace of mind to make a mental map of every bathroom in your vicinity so that you never have to search for one when you really need it.

Not a lot of tips, and they are mainly geared toward damage control and urgency, but I hope they are a little bit helpful.
