Drug Acne?

has anyone had any of their meds cause bad acne? I've been hit bad over the last week, my skin is flushed and breaking out on my cheeks and forehead. I'm only on Entyvio, 6MP and Prednisone. I read about steroid acne and I'm wondering if that could be it. I've been on it for so long. I've just never had a breakout like this before. Any thoughts?

Prednisone gave me bad acne. Never had significant acne, even as a teenager. But with prednisone, it was all over my face, neck, back, and upper arms.

Prednisone induced acne goes away a few weeks after finishing up that med. It's hormonal driven and very difficult to treat with over the counter acne meds. You just deal with it until you are done with prednisone. Acne is better than a raging uc flare up, by far.

acne is my main side effect from all the pred I have been on, just thankful I don't get the chipmunk face my brother gets :)

I have the slight "chipmunk" face but it's never gotten bad. People who know I'm on prednisone do recognize it right away

I can't answer the acne question but I have a question for you. Pls know that I admit to still being totally ignorant when it comes to this crap!

When I read your post that you are on entivio and 6mp and STILL having to take pred it makes me want to cry!!!! I will eventually end up on 6mp but why do we still need pred???

I just don't understand how we can withstand so many drugs, like pred!

Is there no way to avoid it?

I was on Remicade prior to starting Entyvio...between my Remicade infusions, my flares were "breaking through" so my GI used Prednisone as a bridge to keep my flare under control until I received my next Remicade. When we decided to switch to Entyvio, we stayed on the Prednisone because the drug takes a few infusions before it reaches the appropriate levels in your system. My doc gave me instructions that it was ok to taper off prednisone when I started Entyvio. I was originally on 40 prior to starting Entyvio. I'll be dropping down to 15 over the weekend and continue to drop off prednisone unless my GI tells me otherwise. :)
