Remicade and light smoking

Hey everyone,

I have a question for anyone with any info on the subject. First some background on my condition, though.

I've been on remicade for the past 3 years to treat my moderate to sever UC. It's also worth noting I'm a 26 year old male and I've had UC since I was 12 but it really started to get bad a few years ago which is when I started remicade.

The remicade has really helped tremendously and I sometimes forget that I even have the disease except when I go in for treatments. That being said, I recently had a few cigarettes what with it being the holidays and going to parties and what not. I certainly would not call myself a smoker. I can pretty much count every cigarette I've ever had. My question is this... is smoking lightly like this dangerous on remicade? I know smoking is dangerous in and of itself, however since my immune system is weak from these treatments, do I stand an even greater risk of getting cancer from having a cigarette now and again?

All very good points. I'm not necessarily proud of the decision. I used to smoke a little here and there prior to remicade so these weren't my first ever cigarettes or anything like that. In the past it was to the same extent, maybe a pack over the course of a year. I had a handful over the summer and then a few over the past few weeks and I'm starting to feel very nervous about it/disappointed in myself for being reckless when I was lucky enough to have gone into remission fairly easily through my treatments. It's definitely something I'm not going to do again, though.
