why can't you take your Humira shot if you have a fever?

I feel a cold coming on, I take Humira injections once a week and have tried to find info about why you are not suppose to take Humira when you have a fever, so far all I can find is, "do not start Humira if you have an infection or fever" but technically I'm not starting it I'm already on it, but I don't know if I'm suppose to skip a shot if I happen to have a fever the day I'm due to take my shot.

So does anyone know why or what happens if you take your shot if you have a fever?

Personally, I think the obvious is the answer. Humira is something that weakens the immune system, which might make whatever disease you have worse. You do have a point though that since your immune system is already weakened from the past Humira shots then maybe this would be an inconsequential worry. I believe most of those warnings are before starting Humira in the first place. I don't know your shot schedule. Is it something you can delay a few days? I would probably call the doc's office or Humira for a definitive answer. I do personally know someone who developed a life threatening infection while already on Humira and had to stop it. She needed surgery due to the infection and things could have gone down very badly.

How high is your fever?

I would think that if something is brewing for the potential of making you quite sick, humira could make it sooooo much more worse. For some, a cold is nothing except a nuisance...for others, they're quite sick.

I sure hope this isn't a bad cold. Is anyone else in your family or circle of contacts sick?

I don't have a fever at the moment, but last night I felt as if a cold was coming on (I took a contact C before bed cuz I tend to get sick in the middle of my sleeps) and so far I feel ok since I got up this morning, but in case I ended up with a fever I wanted to first find out about Humira shots with a fever.

Yes Q, there's a nasty flu going around, both my hubby and son got sick but I never caught it from them (at least not near the degree they had it) for me just some sniffling here and there so I used contact c before bed whenever I thought I felt a little off...so far so good though, just trying to cover my bases with being on Humira cuz sometimes with me colds/flus will hit me really hard and out of the blue and other times I just get little symptoms (like as of late) and then they just end up turning into nothing...I don't get sick often (before Humira) and haven't been really sick since going on it last February...I've only had one minor cold since starting Humira almost a year ago.

Sorry that you had to go through that...what I thought was a cold coming on seems to have disappeared oddly...that never happens to me where I feel like I'm getting sick and then nothing really comes of it and the weird thing is I felt a sore throat last week and took a contact C before bed then too and woke up the next day feeling fine and then days later I felt the dripping nose and sneezing thing I mentioned in my initial post above and so far nothing ended up coming from it, I felt fine all day yesterday and woke up feeling fine today as well so I don't know if maybe it's my sinusitis that's making me feel this way or what, but I thought just in case I was getting really sick (as the flu is going around-both hubby and son have had it) that I was likely getting it too, that I should enquire about fevers and Humira...

Thanks to all the replies I'm at least more prepared now if I do get sick with a fever.
