So I started taking Humira in September, at which point I noticed a lot of side effects. The day after I took my injections I would vomit for the whole day sometimes leading into the next day. I couldn't go to work for 2-3 days because it was like 20+ vomits per day. But after that vomit wise I was fine.
The other, more worrying side effect, was that after my initial dose I lost my distance vision in my left eye, my eye muscle were in a constant state of accomodation spasm. I couldn't drive or really are for any distance. The pain was excruciating especially fe artificial light. I saw neurologists and opthomologists and they said that there was nothing they could do until the cycle was broken. They didn't know for sure it was the Humira but they couldn't say it wasn't.
2 weeks ago we made the decision to take a break from Humira and see if the side effects went away, which obviously I didn't vomit and not my eye is actually back to seeing at the same level as my right. I have starting driving this week and I am no longer living in the dark.
I went to my gp on Monday and she said the plan her and my gi had discussed was to put me back on Humira for my dose this week and see if the side effects come back at which point we will know for certain whether it was caused by Humira. I understand their logic, but I really cannot afford to lose my vision again as I am in a huge project for work and I am enjoying having my independence to drive and not to have to take the bus for 2 hours and wait outside in the -20 snowy weather we have right now.
I do not want to take this dose, but I couldn't find the words to express this at the gp because I was stunned and mad. So now should I bother to see my gi? Do I call someone? What are your thoughts?
