Pouchoscopy prep

I didn't prep for pouchoscopies or pouchograms. Your pouch is disconnected right now because of the loop ileostomy, nothing that you eat or drink ends up there anyway. My guess is that whoever gave you the prep instructions isn't familiar with j-pouches so they gave you standard prep instructions for a sigmoidoscopy.

If I were you I would call the doctor's office to clarify. It's not a big deal either way, but I know when I had my loop ileostomy I could get pretty uncomfortable and dehydrated if I had to fast for any period of time, so I would avoid it if you can.

There's no reason to be sedated for a routine pouchoscopy -- it's very quick, like a sigmoidoscopy. I agree though, if they intend to sedate you that would be a reason to have nothing after midnight. Sticking to clear liquids the day before is unnecessary.
