Thanks for the replies. Blood tests have shown that the inflammation has come down A LOT. The Gastro told me the inflammation was at 107 when I came in and it's down to 7
now. He's confident the extra 3 days on intravenous steroids plus the first Infliximab infusion is going to be enough to enable me to get onto oral prednisolone and hopefully leave hospital with this flare showing signs of being tamed.
I'm not as positive as him. Thanks for reading and replying! I'll keep you all updated. Dan x

READ YOUR POSTS,
my 22 yr old daughter started ul pancolitis (extended to whole colon) in oct 2013, with a 10 day flareup, controlled with Mezalasena 1200mg x3. even in remission she continued the med, diagnosed then hypo thyroidsm , takes eutirox, vitamin d.
she had severe cramps, bloody stools, lost 10 kgs, which she regained without a problem.
during flareup had only chicken broth and cooked rice kanji. potatoes. for 15 days. then very carefully inserted other foods, for a few mnths was gluten free, lactose free.
in april 2014 - another 10 day flareup - needed cortison but stopped just after a few days.
in March she had exaggerated with her food - a few beers, coffee and hams.
in December 2014 - started a flareup after being sick with flue but only 2 analgesic Moment tablets were taken.
started on the 15th dec , up to 20 bloody stool motions, with severe cramps, admitted to the hospital as her cortison tablets were not answering.
Iv steroids were given , the bleeding was not stopping for four more days, then they started with Asacol 100ml rectal foam, then only the bloody stools stopped.
up to today she is on filtered chicken broth, light chicken breast, potatoes, morning tea without teina, and dry toast busicuits, no sugar only honey when neccessary.
since ypday - skimmed natural yogurt, light cheese like robiola is added. no fruits no veg even bolied.
she cant walk a kilometere she feels weak and crampi, she feels that her intestines , colon is extreamly delicate, the wrong movement gives cramps.
NOW - SHE HAS BEEN ASKED TO TAKE IMMUNOSUPPRESIVES , A NEAR FUTURE COLOECTOMY.... WHICH SHE IS REFUSING.....
we considered ayuwedic therapy but up to now many have discouraged us on that.
Hope you and every one else who are in this condition will feel better and well.
Daisy.
