My DD has some abdominal pain and is taking Azathioprine. I read in many places that Aza could cause pancreatitis. What are the symptoms of pancreatitis caused by Aza?

I think the pain is on the upper left side near or below the ribs and is pretty severe from what I have read
about
it.

I developed pancreatitis from azathioprine this past fall.
For me, it caused severe pain across my abdomen right at the bottom of my ribs, first starting 2-3 weeks after going on azathioprine. Each day, the pain would begin about
3 hours after taking the drug, it would build in severity over a couple hours, and then slowly go away after about
14 hours.
The duration and severity of the pain got worse each day over 4-5 days before I realized it was the azathioprine, and it went completely away as soon as I stopped taking the drug.

If you're concerned about
panceratitis, i would get her to the doctor or ER. You really shouldn't try to self diagnose in the case of something that can be very serious.

Pancreatitis is an intense pain. I read once "how do I know if I have pancreatitis?" Doctors response "you'll be cursing my name, in excruciating pain, in the back of an ambulance, on the way to the hospital".
Careful with self-diagnosis.
