fist time using salfak enemas and dont know if i used them right , bad pain in night

confused confused confused confused confused hey everyone , i dont know if i inserted the enema enough , in the middle of the night the pain (like cramps) and wind was terrible i acctually thought my stomach was going to explode! so im a little nervous for ususing it again tonight , also when i went to the toilet last night around 2 hrs after enema a little white was in my poop so is this normal im new to all this and appreciate any help or advice as im only 16 and amm quite scared eyes eyes eyes eyes cry cry cry cry shakehead shakehead blush

Yes, enemas can stain some of your poop white, it's perfectly normal so no worries there. The pain was from the wind/flatulence by the sound of it. 2 hours is quite good for somebody new at them. Keep at it.

I only hold my farts in for the first 30 mins to an hour after putting the enema in (to avoid accidental leakage). After that if I have to fart I let it go "gently" with no problem. Just make sure you stay lying down on your left side to allow gravity to help the meds to move further up along your colon.

It's normal while flaring and using the enemas. please try not overanalysing. Holding for a few hours initially is great.

Welcome to the world of rectal meds. make the enemas your best friend....they've been mine for 26 years. Obviously, ignorance meant discomfort using the enemas was normal. It eases once you improve.

You probably won't care about this when you are in pain!

But here is a little cosmetic tip.

Make sure you thoroughly flush and SCRUB the toilet bowl afterwards, as the liquid from these enemas stains badly.

I only flushed. But hindsight I should have scrubbed each and every time I used the toilet when emptying my bowels after using the liquid.

We live in rented accommodation. In August and September 2005, I had to use these enemas. Today in 2015 the toilet bowl is still stained from them.

The landlord has advised that we will lose part of our rental bond (about $800) when we move out because of this unmovable stain. So he can replace the toilet bowl.

An excellent and sensible suggestion of course :) as long as you do it immediately afterwards.

I tried everything known to mankind and the stain will NOT shift.

But for myself, since being diagnosed with UC, I have also developed a sensitivity to chemicals. All chemicals like bleach, shower cleaning agents, shower gel, hairspray, perfume, aftershave, deodorant, air freshener, perfumes in laundry powder, paint, petrol. So all this is now banned from our house.

oh yeah, the stains. For me, it's only on underneath the seat and sometimes sprayed up onto the underside of the lid (I flush with lid down).

The solution is really to clean after every bm flush (be it only the enema that comes out with force in the mornings).

My hg is Vim spray with bleach. Wet toilet paper sprayed with vim...wipe a section and dry with tp.

Saved many a seat....

A drop of bleach in the bowl won't help the toilet seat :-)

Did you squeeze the extra air out of the enema bottle before using it? Squeeze it gently until a drop of liquid comes out.

That, and warming it in a cup of hot water or under your arm pit for a few minutes, helps a ton
