Actually I can't take credit for the "Molecular Mimicry" theory. It has been a well established theory by the professional medical community for quite some time. Fortunately, or unfortunately, UC is my second autoimmune disease. My other autoimmune disease (ITP) has been in remission for over 15 years now but it gives me a different perspective than most people here have. They often think of this disease with blinders on, only knowing the world of IBD and only searching for solutions within the IBD framework. Autoimmunity, and most professionals believe IBD is an autoimmune disease, involves a whole lot more going on in our bodies than just looking at things from the IBD perspective. There is something common to all autoimmune diseases and if we find the solution to one we will probably find the solution to many, if not all. IBD is not as simple as just repopulating the gut with bacteria. There is more going on than meets the eye and if the solution was so simple the experts would have figured it out a long time ago.
