Saw new GI and she was lovely. We talked about everything and she made me feel better about 6mp.

The only other thing she had to offer was a couple months of pred and i Am past that!

So there it is. My original dr was right! I stick with him!

I am happy you've made a decision and you're comfortable with it. I really hope you get some relief. I had a really nice, long remission with 6mp.

Yep. It's time to stick with something until it proves that it doesn't work. That takes a lot of the stress away. Good luck.

I don't know but waking up today with symptoms again really solidified my decision. I will pic it up and start tonight and I will let you know! I hope it not too high!!!

Do you take before bed, with or without food, can you give me some tips to lesson the nausau? I get that easily!

I really nervous about getting sick! I feel like I need to become a germaphobe,, how careful do we need to be?

First of all i take it at night to prevent having side effects. I got headaches for about first few weeks took Tylenol. Also up until last week i had a nauseous feeling in my throat. Tool vsl3 and that got rid of it! Two weeks into it had terrible cold and cough cant say its from that though because normally get that once a winter. I work at a doctors office, shadow at a hospital and hope to go to med school. This was a huge concern for me. But my dr said as follows: as long as my white blood cell count is in range (which it is) my chances of getting sick are the same as his. He said just wash your hands often and its fine. I trust him. And so far so good

I took my 6mp before bedtime to reduce the side effects too. I actually got sick less while I was on 6mp. I used to get sick with various illnesses quite often but after 6mp built up in my system I would get sick maybe once a year if that.

Good luck and I hope this does the trick for you. I never had an issue with 6mp. My body just couldn't metabolize it right and I was always at the low end of the therapeutic range. Meaning I was simmering the whole 6 years while on it. I didn't go into full on flare mode but there were good days and bad. Since it didn't work right that's when I chose Remicade. I will be crossing my fingers for you! :)

Oh ok, sounds like standard procedure. I read they have been using it with great luck for 30 years, so that is encouraging. Heres hoping this works for us!!!!

I started at 25mg, when my blood work was fine my GI upped it to 50mg. Then when I couldn't get into range he upped it to 75mg 3 days a week and 50mgs the rest of the days.

Picked up med, the directions say take half 2x a day! Not 1x before bed! What would you do? 50mg

One right before bed. Never heard of splitting 50. Ask dr before .but take one before bed

I don't *think* it matters if it's split, however if it says to split I'd go ahead and do it. It may help with nausea to take a smaller dose twice??

Edit: Sephora probably knows better than I :)

Ya i agree. Try that. I just hate having to remember to take meds. So for me to take in one shot is easier

Ok now i have to take it with the uceris in the morning! I hope it doesnt make me sick. But on a positive note i start tonight! Let the healing begin!!!

I really hope it works out well for you, DMC. I really hope you get better and that your suffering is reduced. Thank you for your kind words earlier, it's so hard sometimes with the decisions we are forced to make with this roller coaster disease.

It is a crazy roller coaster and I worry about every one of us! We all have to do what we can! I sure hope this works as well because I don't have many options. I am 55 this year and just need to make it 7 more years in the working world! Then I might be brave enough to go for surgery if nec.

I know you don't want to try these meds but some people get 10 year remission! 10 years!!!!

Anyway!!!! You and me and Sephora can try it together!

Took my first half last night, no issue. The hydrocort gives me more drama. Dry mouth and wakes me up in middle of noght every time. Just took my second half for this morning.

The directions say drink more water than usual but thats about it.

I hope hope hope this works!!!!!!!
