Thank you for M! IPoop my dr never heard of allopurinol i asked him to look it up!?!?!?! He makes me nervous sometimes

I mean he heard of it for gout but not as a modifier

Are your symptoms better at all? Did you have the blood test that tells you whether you're in the therapeutic range or just the test that says whether your liver is functioning normally? I ask because, if you're only having the latter, you don't know where to go with the dose... if you're therapeutic without allopurinol and your liver is functioning normally, there probably isn't a reason to add it.

I think it's mostly for cases where people can't get into the therapeutic range without having negative effects to their liver. This was the case for me anyway. According to the test, i always had high toxicity and low therapeutic benefit. I was able to take allopurinol to lower the toxicity and increase the therapeutic benefit. It totally worked for me. My numbers skyrocketed in a positive way. You have to decrease the dose of 6mp a lot if you're on allo and I don't think we decreased mine enough and I ended up neutropenic, which can happen with 6mp alone but it's common with the combo so you need frequent blood work at first. I think I was going weekly for a while.

Yes, way better! I had that blood test but don't think I am in range but he said something is high and cannot increase dose! I have vulnerable liver so have to be careful.

What is neutropenia? Thanks NSSG

No blood this morni, so far! Maybe it was a hemmie it was very bright yesterday. I don't ever think I will understand this disease anspd thankfully we have each other. I am just going to try to not think about it even if I see blood for at least a couple more months!

Not thinking about it is not working... I see signs of inflamation a couple times a week. It's not bad. But I think 6mp is not my ticket.

I spoke to another dr and he said entivio is fine for people with liver issues, so just getting insurance to pay for an expensive new treatment might be hard.

I will give 6mp more time unless blood work not good.

Is a couple times a week regressing for you? Last week you said you were seeing significant improvement.

Hang in there! As long as you aren't worse than you were last week, try not to let a bad day here & there get you down. If the over all trend is that you are getting better, then focus on that. It can take a while to fully heal.

Don't give up  on 6mp yet. It is too early. I have been on 75mg since october 2013 and I was like you for atleast 6 to 8 months. It gets better with the time as it is the medicine that works very slow. I am not 100% but my colonoscopy looks good(biopsy still indicates some activity) and I can function normally.

Thank you Pam, it is the functioning normally that keeps me sane. I work and feel really great most days. I will give it at least 6 months, at least! Today a good day and there is never a lot,

Talk to GI he not happy I quit bedesonide but i think 6 months too long and always noticed some symptoms. I reminded him that take cortenema too so still getting steriod.

The new treatment is just to add two Apriso a day and keep taking 6mp in half am/pm
