That's awesome. I really wanted to work with children with disabilities as an OT, but now that I'm doing rec therapy I hope I can do the same. I've worked as a teacher aide in special education preschool classes before and I love working with the kids. People don't give them enough credit. They're smarter than most people think and they know how to con you. I think people tend to baby them too much, but if you just let them, most of them can do just as much as children without disabilities. I really wanted to work on inclusion with OT and getting kids to a point where they are able to function in a general education classroom. Hopefully I can do something like that with rec therapy only inclusion in leisure activities as opposed to functional skills.
