I see that rashes, hives, itchy skin conditions are common among those with UC For the last 3 weeks I've developed itchy burning upper eyelids, towards the inner eye. Ugh irritating. Then blotches started appearing on my neck, back, then chest, on to upper and lower arms. I've never had a skin condition in my life! What looks like a pimple suddenly appeared on my hand (?!!!) and this morning one appears on my forehead. Saw my new M.D. today she says treat with moisture but that it didn't look like eczema or psoriasis. Acne?? Come on! I'm 64 years old! Could be "environmental" reaction (as in allergic). I think it's another autoimmune attack of some kind.

my skin "itchies" were a precursor to my uc - had em on my legs for almost a year before my colon puked on me -

itchies finally went away when i quit eating grains - oh, and what a coinkadink (as my wife and i'm sure a few others say), my uc took a vaca ! go figger shocked

chicken or the itchies ? which came first ? dunno - but probably your wacked out pooper hole is not liking something your putting in there !

Hmm that's what my naturopath said too, probably wheat reaction. Having terrible time stopping wheat. But why is wheat suddenly problematic? I've been eating it for 63 years. Sorry for the accidental double post.

It could be related to UC or maybe not. My hubby (non-UC) got a body rash that no doctor could figure out (6 doctors in 3 states over 5 years). Prednisone cream made it go away but his skin got so thinned out that it bled just from shirt rubbing, also bruising. Finally after years it went away. His change in diet may have helped, because I am the main cook which mean gluten-free and preservative-free whole foods for meals.

It's hard to pinpoint why some medical conditions start, our environment inside and outside is filled with things we don't have a clue about. Hope you get some relief soon. Have you changed soap, detergent, shampoo?

I just cleaned window-screens and inside windows today and amazed at the dirt build-up. Even more amazed I didn't get a raging headache due to the mold and dust.

interesting i'm a gardener too, I just moved to a place close to a coal train line. The only other possible environmental factor is a long hair rabbit foster. Ughh. I'm not changing either of those out.

If it is eczema, it can be triggered from an allergic over reaction by the immune system to products touching and remaining on your skin (such as soaps, shampoos, or laundry detergent). Have you changed any of those lately? I had some new irish spring soap that seemed to trigger an outbreak. Think mild stuff without perfumes...

It helps to moisturize liberally a few minutes after your shower, to retain moisture (apparently, retaining mosture is a big issue for those with skin issues).
