vacation to panama?

the boyfriend & i are taking a vacation in april, and panama is one of the places thats been suggested.
anyone been before?
forgive my ignorance, but is this one of those places where one has to be careful of certain foods/stomach bugs?
just covering all of my bases to make sure i don't have any poo problems on my vacation, haha!!

I would be careful about getting food/water related diarrhea in Mexico or any Central American country. Especially if traveling outside of big cities, not eating at formal restaurants, or braving food stalls.
