In a separate thread DMC2011 asked: "when did u dev fever with 6mp? How long were you on it?"
6mp works great for so many people, but for some reason my body rejected it. After a couple of days at a low dose, I started to feel feverish. I thought it might be an infection. But after a week, staying at the same low dose, I had fevers all day, and they would get high each night (100F -101+). Again, we were thinking that maybe this was an infection. I was in full flare at the time, and completely miserable. I know 6mp is not regarded as an induction drug, but I was resisting the biologics. I figured I needed to get 6mp into my system if I were to move on to a biologic anyway. So I was willing to try it. But it made me feel a whole lot worse. Somehow I tolerated this feverish state for about six weeks, and then my docs and I gave up on it. At that point, some of my liver function tests results were off the charts very high, as was my WBC. I was very relieved to stop! 6mp does help a lot of folks. I was just miserable taking it.
Also, just fyi, when I moved on to remicade next, I was not taking an immunomodulator with it, and this was a set-up to develop antibodies to remicade more quickly.
