My platelets have been high for some time. When I was diagnosed, they were as high as 860,000 per mcL. Now they are around 480,000 per mcL, but won't go lower. My GI thinks I'm nearing remission on Entyvio and is concerned they aren't getting below the 350,000 mark. 480,000 doesn't seem to be all that high and I'm relatively certain I'm not in complete remission, so I'm not that concerned. She wants me to see a hematologist, though, because all of my other inflammation markers are in check. By my CRP and Sed, I'm golden.
Has anyone else maintained higher platelets during/nearing remission? If so, how do you manage this? It makes me a bit nervous to have them elevated, but I exercise daily, don't smoke and eat healthy. Obviously, I can't take aspirin. I suppose I could donate platelets on a regular basis, but I spend enough time hooked up to a machine for my infusions, I'm not looking to add another appointment away from work to the mix. Adding another drug to my life is not high on my list of good things.
Thoughts?
