This reaction could be dose dependent. Maybe starting with low dose (say 1-2 or 3 drops at most) and very slowly increasing it to 3-5 drops a day can help with this issue. Or at least this way we may find an optimal dose for the oil.
I can only buy liquid form of oregano oil and for now I put 3 drops into an empty capsule, then swallow it.
Manipulating GI flora with antibiotics, antifungals lowers the inflammation and disease activity in general for crohn's disease and sometimes ulcerative colitis. In addition, this oil can be very helpful with SIBO and leaky gut syndrome. That is why taking it every day for long time like Canada Mark seems worth a try for me. It is also known that this oil has anti-viral and anti protozoal activities.
I can't eat fermented foods (due to high histamine) and probiotic products always make me so much worse. Aside from diet, the only way I can think of to manipulate the GI flora is oregano oil or thyme oil which has strong anti microbial effects.
These results are also good additions I think:
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10216288 "These results show that dietary supplementation with thyme oil tended to maintain higher PUFA levels in all tissues studied."
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10703468 Thyme oil and oregano oil share their most important main components with only different ratios. Page 3 of this article shows it:
