So I went for a second opinion regarding this pain I have on my left side (where my colitis is located). I was sent to another consultant gastroenterologist at another hospital by my GP as my own gastro doc does not know what is causing the pain and does not think it is colitis related as I am in remission at present. This other gastro doc was also confused as to where the pain is coming from. He said that colitis does not usually present with pain as a usual symptom and when flaring the normal symptoms are diaherea and blood (he does not need to tell me this!). I know I am not flaring as my stools and frequency are fine and I have no symptoms. He mentioned it could be a gynae issue but I informed him that my periods were spot on and I had no issue with that plus the pain was higher up on my left side, so not really in that area. He came to the conclusion that it was anxiety pains caused by my stress personality! I don't get it. I am not that stressy and when I am not getting the pains, I do not give this illness a second thought!
I believe he has booked me in for a abdominal scan to see whether they can see anything. He also mentioned kidney stones but stated that I would be in severe pain if I had those and I am not.
So back to the drawing board!

Hopefully the scan provides some direction. Maybe it is all anxiety related. Are you going to try something to see if it helps? At least your UC is behaving well :)
