I never pay attn to aches and pains, i figure i will be 55 in May so its bound to happen. But i am a little concerned. I suppose if it is 6mp causing it the two week test i took yesterday will show something?

I sure hope its not the beginning of pancreatitis or my already comprimised liver isnt freaking out!

Any ideas?

Where exactly on the right? Any other symptoms (burping, sore to the touch, is it radiating anywhere else, etc)? Could be many things, even gas! If it becomes worrisome of course your best bet is to see the doctor.

I think liver and pancreas pain tends to be in the middle/left so I might not jump right to that.

Ok thanks! Its hurts when pressed. I txt dr to let him know so he pays close attn to test results. Maybe appendicitis. My body loves anything ending in itis!

How high up is the pain? I just had a gallbladder fiasco haha. Just had the sucker removed! At first I thought it might be appendicitis but, nope. You could even try a gas x while you wait and see if it helps? Sometimes when you start to heal I think gas can make an appearance. Hope you have better luck than I did :P

It could be gas. I had a lot of that when I was on azathioprine. If it's gas the pain will move around to different locations. I swear I could feel the gas bubble the whole way through my intestines! If that's what it is and it becomes really bothersome, ask your dr if you can take something for it until your body adjusts to the med. My dr told me to take Zantac which helped.

Ok thanks you guys. I just took a tylenol but if that doesnt work I will go the gas x route. Its like about a palm length down from ribs

I believe 6mp is a DNA and RNA poison, known to cause toxicity in the skin, hair, liver, bone marrow, blood and many other organs.

I do not trust 6mp/Azathioprine at all and would stay away at all costs, because it's just a temporary bandaid that makes you more vulnerable to other chronic diseases. It is not a cure, it is only a steroid sparing alternative, which unfortunately is chemotherapy DNA poison. To keep your colon, you would need to risk giving up your hair, skin, liver, bones and blood. This is what 6mp asks of you for UC relief. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just how I feel about taking 6mp.

FightUC- for those of us that are on immunosuppressant medication do not choose to be on it and are on it because other things have not worked for us. You do not have to be so insensitive about the drug and the effects because as you can imagine those of is that take it are pretty worried about side effects and don't need someone who lists off all the bad things about the drug.

DMC some people do not tolerate 6mp/aza, some do. I am one of those who does. I have been on it many years. If 6mp is causing you problems, you'll catch them when you get your bloodwork back. That's the whole point of monitoring your blood/liver so closely-so you can be safe. Your doctor *probably* doesn't want you to die. The chance of cancer, which is most people's biggest worry, is rather small (someone just posted some stats the other day I believe), and bigger for those taking it for organ transplants (way higher doses). As for catching something else, well, DMC I've told you about that. Please just keep up on vaccinations, wash your hands, use common sense. If you don't feel good you don't feel good, then stop taking 6mp. It may just not agree with you. But please don't panic. I know how stressed you already are. If you feel you are having side-effects and don't tolerate it, and especially if your bloodwork is not looking ideal, then by all means stop. No one is asking you to take it unsafely. Your bloodwork continues to be done the entire time you're on the med. Feel free to email me if you'd like DMC.

Take a Gas X (quite safe) and drink some fluids. Right sided pain, again, doesn't sound like liver or pancreas to me. First guess is gas, before gallbladder, appendix, or kidneys.

I won't get into the bandaid idea. It's not like I haven't tried anything else.

In my experience, doctors are always downplaying the side effects.

Pill pushing dermatologist about Accutane: "Oh, you'll just get some dry skin"
*UC diagnosed after taking it*

Kenalog injection dermatologist: "The side effects will be very minimal and not systemic at all" *flare happens day after*

When I was worried about starting azathioprine, my dr told me he had one patient who was on it for 30 years without any problems. That's a pretty long time to just be a temporary bandaid ;)

Thanks guys! I am really hoping 6mp is working!! I didn't even have to take a canasa today!!! First time in months.

I think my side ache is from gas because I am burping and actually had two real toots!!! So hopefully it's just gas! I honestly don't think its the 6mp and I am honestly over being too worried about the horror stories I am hearing.

I can't wait for my dr to tell me blood tests are fine tomorrow, cause if it wasn't for this gas or whatever it is, I would be very optimistic right now!

FightUC, I am sorry you have limited your treatment options to just surgery, but that is the choice you are making, just like those of us have chosen to try to live life with the help of meds. I was very scared at first, and it's no piece of cake but it's the slice I took. Hugs!!!

I was actually thinking appended, it runs in my family. If the pain is still here tomorrow and hasn't lessoned I will tell GI. Maybe get a scan before the weekend.

Hi Andrina, The last look the dr took was still left sided. Just woke up and haven't moved much yet but think it may have subsided.

Turning into darn hypochonrriac now? Does that question make me one? :-)

Better! Thanks for asking! Poo was small and more yellow (wierd) so it was def something off.

Pain seems to be gone, so far.

I feel on mend And i know its only two weeks but meds are kicking in.

I so hope my blood tests come back good today, i mostly concerned there will be a prob because of my existing liver issue but i am hopeful because liver in great shape considering.

Will post what dr says.

Just a little over two weeks.

I was very nervous about taking it and my dr said it can take up to three months but the second opinion dr said it can start to work as soon as three weeks. So i dont know, its actually prob the uceris starting to work, been on that since beginning of feb.

My doctor said the 6mp will work within 6 weeks. I did request Uceris until I can get on the 6mp. Just waiting to hear back today from doctor.

Good luck, seems like all the meds just take time to kick in if the flare is pretty stubborn and my flare started end of October!!!!

That's when my flare started. Right before the holidays. I went for a colonoscopy in January and the flare got a little worse.

What does the 6mp replace? I know I will ask my doctor but will I still have to take the canasa, lialda and enemas?

It is in addition to for me. I think i still have to take all the rest of the meds but I think I can cut back on butt meds. Not sure.
