Hi - I have to switch meds because my new provider does not cover delzicol. Any suggestions? I am in remission for 3 1/2 years. I take 8 delzicol a day. It is a PITA but have not had a problem so don't want to change. Thanks in advance.

switch providers
that really sucks - the big r doesn't come easy - the possibility of losing it is even worse - can you talk to someone and plead your case ?
there are other mesalamines - hopefully you can find one that works as well -

Alternatives are apriso, lialda, and pentsa. One generic Colazal is available that might save you a lot on copays. I'd call your insurance, mention those names, and see what they do cover for your uc. Most all are brand named drugs, so pricey (check the patient assistance programs that reduce copays at the top of this forum).
Sulfasalazine is also a generic, much older uc medication, but known to create more side effects than the above mentioned medications. Avoid it if you have a known sulfa allergy.

Tried that multiple times and getting nowhere. I just get ignored. Hopefully new drug wont make a difference. Switched from asacol to delzicol around a year ago and no problems.

Persistence often wins the battle, and it's essential to know what they will cover for you. The pharmacy might be able to look some of it up, but the insurance is probably the best course of action. Be a hornet in their ear, until you get your answer.
