I switched to Dr. Regueiro in the IBD Center this past November. I've had UC for quite a while now and had new symtpoms. Basically nausea with ultimately a 25 lb weight loss and weird BMs. I was not getting better despite him adding some meds so he scoped me. Visually my colon wasn't bad...had lots of mucous, edema and friable tissue but not ulcers. Symptom wise I was miserable so he asked that I try either gluten free diet or SCD before adding any meds. I'm current doing FODMAP slowly. I'm scared to add any foods during the work week so I add them over the weekend. After my scopes in December, I flared and subsequently was hospitalized for fluids and prednisone. I just finished pred 2 weeks ago and I feel it is what I needed all along. I've only been on asacol in the past, none of the other oral meds you have tried. It doesn't sound like it's working for you and I'm not clear on why they won't offer you a different category of meds since you're miserable. Have you had any abdominal surgeries of any kind? Would you consider asking for a biologic? Your quality of life is pretty low and it might be worth a try. My previous GI doc skipped the immunosuppressant category and started me on remicade.
