How long did it take anyone here to go into remission?

After I was originally diagnosed in Jan 2013 I thought I was in remission in about 2 months. Looking back now I am not so sure I ever have been in full remission because my stool was always pretty soft. It wasn't until I started drinking nopal in Jan 2015 that my stools have become more like pre-UC consitency. Still don't know if I am in remission. I go for a colonoscopy in May and will see what that says.

I've been in a flare since October. A little better now.  My last one was a couple years ago and that one lasted me one year.

Some achieve remission in a few months, it took me 2.5 years, some take much longer. It's all a matter of luck, and a trial-and-error process to achieve the right combination of medications and dosages to tame your severity of ulcerative colitis. What medications are you currently taking and what are your symptoms (# of bms a day, urgency, consistency)?

I am not sure I would say I am in remission, but my symptoms are well controlled and I feel pretty close to "normal." I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago and it took a solid 6 months for me to get to where I am now. I have had a couple of bumps along the way, but nothing like the symptoms when I was diagnosed. I have normal stool consistency and frequency, no blood, no passing mucus/blood with gas, etc. I still see mucus from time to time and have more gas now than I used to before UC.

I'd say symptoms can be well taken care of within a few weeks after increasing enemas to nightly......2 months for sure to get to maintenance. This was not always the case, however, with the longest nightly rectals being 4 months before attempting to taper.

23 years but I was either allergic or non-responsive to traditional oral meds used for IBD, thank goodness Humira worked for me, too bad I had to develop a fistula in order to get on it, but that's the politics/protocol for getting on meds that work where I live.

For myself, diagnosed 7 weeks ago and mostly better (still some occasional abdominal and rectal discomfort, not bad enough to call it pain). I don't know if this is remission. My doctor says two months of mild symptoms is fairly common after the major flare up it under control.
