Some background: was diagnosed with pancolitis in 2010. Asacol worked great until a really bad flare up in summer 2014 (6-10 BM/day, usually just liquid or mucus, usually bloody). Struggled for months to get it under control, finally managed to get it in december with a combination of asacol (4800 mg/day), Uceris (1 tablet/day), 50mg oral pred, a month of predfoam, and going on the SCD diet. I've been off the oral and rectal pred for a few months now, tapered the oral stuff very slowly. I've consistently only been having 1-2 BM per day, no urgency, very solid (even feeling almost constipated sometimes).
The weird part is I'll still get occasional blood. This blood isn't mixed in with the stool; rather, it's dripping into the toilet bowl. Usually what will happen is I'll get some stool out, it'll be normal and there'll be no blood. Then a minute or two later, I'll start dripping blood into the toilet bowl. It's almost like there's a cut somewhere external on the anus, rather than the blood coming from inside the rectum or further up in the large bowel. This only happens every once in a while, I'll go a few weeks without this happening, then I'll have a few days where every other BM or so I'll get this, then it'll go away again for a few weeks.
Anyone else experienced anything like this, or have any idea what's causing it? Or how I can even pinpoint whether it's internal or external?
