Well then I guess we chalk it up to human nature as to why people feel all the conspiracy theories they do, if things were different and so many people didn't feel like certain professionals are only in it for the money because they receive terrible care/help or for whatever other reasons then people in general wouldn't feel the way they do. I don't have a problem with Dr. OZ but in general I don't see many people in that particular field as caring more about patients than they do money.

I was screwed over by a surgeon and a bunch of docs telling me I had hemmies (before getting sick with IBD) and they turned out to be perianal crohn's skin tags, they started comng and going on their own when I was a teen and every stupid doc I saw said they were hemmies, what the heck did I know, I was a teen, and after having my first baby, those tags came and were really bad so they banded them because even then I was told they were just hemmies even though I told my then doc that I was starting to have a bunch of urgent but formed BM's daily which was odd for me she sluffed it off as being nothing and so did the surgeon when I told her the same thing, well that surgeon and all those docs telling me I simply had hemmies is good enough reason for me that they just cared about money, surgeon got paid for an un-necessary surgery that really screwed me over cuz since that surgery the tags have stay in a flared state, being large and painful... It is what it is.

Fear-mongering? Dr. Oz has never said anything about GMO foods that wasn't true. His critics may not like what he says about labeling GMOs, or that glyphosate may be carcinogenic, but that is just too bad for his critics. Get over it.

As far as “new age nonsense”, Dr. Oz has recently televised his 1,000th show, and supposedly “every episode of his show features another 'magic, wondrous' new pill”. Yet as I understand it the investigative reporters at the Huffington Post came up with just seven (7) claims that are questionable.

Of course none of those seven items should have been on his show. On the other hand one criticism in particular might be unfair. Dr. Oz mentioned the green coffee extract for weight loss in 2012. The Huffington Post admits that there was a study published in 2012 which found that an ingredient in green coffee beans, chloregenic acid, may indeed help people lose a significant amount of weight in 22 weeks. However, a different study in 2013 found that green coffee extract did nothing to cause weight loss. Should Dr. Oz have mentioned GCE on his show? Of course in retrospect the answer is no.

In fact none of those seven supplements should have been on his TV show. But I can think of many more than seven supplements such as curcumin, probiotics, fish oil, etc., that were mentioned on his show that did not hurt the public to know about. After all most people would never have heard of these from their doctors. I can understand Delta's frustration when he said that doctors would routinely prescribe biphosphonates with all their toxic side effects rather than natural substances such as vitamin K2 for osteoporosis.

I actually never watched Dr. Oz on TV before this week. I get my nutritional information from other sources, sometimes including this forum (powdered psyllium seed). The mainstream media really hasn't been presenting both sides of the GMO controversy. I am really glad that Dr. Oz is there with his megaphone to say that there is another side to this story.

It's fascinating, sociologically, to see how some people will jump to the defense of a person in whom they would normally show little interest, simply because that person is seen as supporting a position or cause with which they personally align themselves.

And, others will insist on a personal standard being met for the quality of any and all sources/information that they allow to be incorporated into their repertoire of knowledge, and therefore find it offensive that any such defense is made without those standards being met.

It doesn't seem to be a matter of either being right or wrong.

It seems more about different courses for different horses ….
