swithced from colazal to lialda..anyone else? pred question as well.

Hi so last week went to see GI and he put me Lialda 2 a day..Insurance wouldn't cover brand name colazal anymore and generic wasn't working. He also prescribed me predisone 20mg and then taper down. Ive held out on taking the predisone to see how this lialda will do, i haven't even been on Lialda a week yet but notice some difference. My question is would you hold out on starting a round of pred? I'm having 2-3 bm's a day, no blood, skinny stool, sometimes watery/urgency..its a simmer forsure.

Ive never taken predison for UC. Had to take a strong dose back in October for a lung/ear infection

There would be two schools of thought on that. Personally, if I were in your shoes, I think I would take the 20mg pred with a quick taper, especially since that's what the doctor ordered and you don't want to go against him for something that is a fairly minor dilemma. A smaller dosage like that with a quick taper won't do your body much harm and probably will be of some help.
