I have been wearing diapers almost 6 years now. I have gotten quite used to them, but still have a problem with odors some times. I wonder if anyone has any advice for that. I tried Nullo and it does work to some degree.

I usually wear a skirt with a gathered waist or A line and can make it through the day OK. I can get to a bathroom at work but the 1 hour commute would not be possible without diaper protection. I have found my best protection in a Molicare with a liner. Plastic pants and control top pantyhose over them. This keeps me totally stealth, with my diaper full or not. If I have an accident I dont change during the day. I am comfortable enough to just keep it in there till I get home. Sometimes I worry about odors if I have to be close to others.

Not a good idea to wear a soiled diaper.
U.S. Gals get UTI infections too easily when fecal matter gets into our lady parts.
I get a lot of UTIS and I only wear Depends at night .
I use panty liners during the day and change at. Once if I have a small accident turn

Although, stronger meds to get away from diapers would be best. Six years of active US is extra cancer risk

I agree wtih DB, you should try to get your UC under control so you don't have to wear diapers. I do give you a lot of credit for figuring out a way to get through the days without compromising your life. I honestly do not think there is any way to mask odor if you're dealing with poop.

I also agree that six years of uncontrolled colitis is very dangerous. Do you use any rectal meds?

However, I'll let you know that one thing that has helped me control the odor of my bowel movements is resistant starch. I take 4 tablespoons of potatoes there today and once I start this, my poop went from very smelly to hardly any smell at all. This may or may not be useful to you.

I would not sit in a soiled diaper! I have been wearing maxi pads for a year because of my UC, but no odor problems, if I poo, I change the pad asap. Wouldn't want to risk an infection

I'd get on strong uc medications like remicade or entvyio, or get surgery.

Wearing diapers is sometimes necessary during bad times but to throw your arms up in the air and use it as a treatment plan is not logical.

I am not judging you by any means, but I personally wouldn't accept what you are going through on a daily basis to live your life. Before I had surgery I had to wear depends so that I could go to my job but if I soiled it I changed it immediately. I also had an hour commute. I had a lot of problems getting to work because my commute is rural. Wearing depends was necessary but I hated it. What are you medications? Has any doctor talked to you about removing your large intestine? I had to do this and now I have a jpouch. My first surgery was almost a year ago. When I met the surgeon I told her I didn't have a life anymore and I was sick and tired of it. Right before my first surgery the doctor said lets get your life back. While it was not an easy process, I absolutely have a great life. Please consider other options and don't automatically accept wearing diapers is the best it can be.
