Hello i am new here, but not to uc. Diagnosed 2004 had two bad episodes since then. A couple of flares thet were knocked out in two to 3 weeks with not more thAn 40 mg of predinsone and wassa enimas
My recent flare march 25. And still going upto 60 mg of predisone. ( horrible). I dont go to the gym since uping to 60. Bloated. Sleepness edgy etc. my question is i was eating multi grain cheerios with silk almond milk. For a change of egg whites everyday. And noticed worse symptoms. More blood and mucus. Which got me thinking could i have an allegy. Or just that colitus is active
Has anyone went to a diettician or nutritionist. I have a do. Appointment today. Never took this long to get in remission

Grain is a problem for some of us along with fiber.
Blood does not mean an allergy, that is usually due to inflammation or an ulceration in the lower region and it's too bad your enemas aren't helping. I suggest cutting back on fiber and raw veggies. Read all ingredients in any pre-made food and try to avoid any that aren't real food (although fiber is real food lol).

anything is possible spo man -
could be your diet change, or could be just the life of uc - imo, as we get older, our bodies have to work a little harder to maintain what was once an everyday occurrence - we need to adapt somehow -
are you on a maintenance schedule of enemas or just as needed ?
i agree with ima on eating real food when you can -

I am also new to this site but not new to UC and a rare one, being diagnosed 6 years ago at the age of 59. Tried everything for meds from Asicol, predizone to Humera & Ramicade (the list is much longer). Nothing worked or only worked for awhile. Tried every dietary trick in the book too with little to no luck, except when I actually talked to a Crones patient who was in total remission for 2 years (this after 3 surgeries) who stated that the she was working with a Dr who only prescribed a diet written on a note pad. The Dr did not want to be prosecuted by the medical community for varying from the norm of "legal drug dealer" status. The prescript
ion was very simple: eat absolutely no grains. None! No wheat, no rye, no corn, nothing that had to do with any type of grain. No seeds, no oils that come from grains, etc etc. Eat a lot of "whole" cooked food, absolutely nothing processed. There is a list of more but after spending a lot of time with her and seeing what she purchased and how she prepared her food, I tried to do the same. Believe me when I tell you that 95% of everything in a grocery store is not (or should not be) on a UC patients list of eatable food.
I stuck to a very strict diet and saw improvements within 5 days with no medications. I can not tell you truthfully that I "suddenly have no symptoms" but I will tell you that going from blood and guts with 10-15 dumps a day for the past 2 years strait (I am rated as severe on my chart and multiple scopes) I now have no bleeding and some pretty normal looking stools, 3-4 times a day. Not every week is perfect and I still have a day or two that I have a little pain and a day or two a month that there is just a trace of blood, but it just keeps me commuted to be extreme with my diet. It is so easy to forget and pay with suffering! Hay even beer is made with frigging grains.
I just wanted to share with all of you, and I have nothing to advertize or gain by me sharing with all who suffers with this horrible disease (as I have). Hope it helps some. Never give up
