I am in a mild flare and to up my lialda to 4 a day and use enemas nightly for a month and then every other night for a month. What a surprise!
I asked him to start the ball rolling with sfRowasa and we agreed to start with hydro-cortisone enemas while I wait for the others to show up.
I asked him why he wanted to see me before changing what I was doing and he said he wants to personally document all of his patients symptoms, that he feels more comfortable that way, but since the sfRowasa is so hard to get he will call in some extras for me.

Ugh, if only I could have done all of this a week ago when things started going down. It has been two years since my last flare, so I guess I can't complain too much.

Funny how doctors differ. My GI prescribed me extra hydrocortisone enemas and even Pred so I could start on them when I felt a flare coming. He still wants me to call him but didn't want me to have to wait.

Try to get extra hydrocortisone enemas to keep in the closet. When I have a few off days in a row, I use one h.c. enema at bedtime to make sure my gut settles down. I use one about every two months. So far so good.

I also benefit from the peace of mind it brings knowing that if I do start to flare, I can do something about it immediately. Big believer in treating UC as soon as symptoms begin.

Maybe your doc read the Forum last week-- because he just did what members recommended in your thread then! (LOL.) Glad the apptmt worked out in your favor. / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
