I'm about
to call my GI's office to schedule my biannual colonoscopy and was wondering if there are any new preps that have been tried in the last two years. My last prep was the one with ducolax and miralax. I have had projectile type vomiting the last two times. Last prep my GI prescribed an antinausea drug but it didn't seem to make any difference. I think it is just the amount of liquid that must be consumed in a short amount of time. Is it ok to start it earlier and drink it slower or not drink quite as much of it? As most of you, I just dread throwing up and would like to hear if there are any helpful suggestions to this problem.

I've heard of people not eating much the day before the prep. Less food, less to get rid of. There is also something called suprep that people have been using that is less quantity to drink. I did pill prep once with visicol and it was OK but a LOT of water even though it was pills... Miralax and dulcolax made me throw up. Golytely is the worst! Sorry, more bad stuff to report from me than good. Best for me was pill but next time I will try suprep probably.

Same here I vomited with each sip
Thankfully they didn't have to cancel the colonoscopy as I was having such bad Ds my colon was cleared
It's possible they will let you do some enemas ( like fleet)
And than do just half of the prep
Call your GI and see what they can do for you
Good luck
Prep is the worst

I found Moviprep not too bad, it's not jugs of prep you have to get down with it at least. just 2 full glasses (8 oz if I remember correctly) split apart not all at once so that makes it easier too and I think I was directed to take 4 dulcolax tabs the day/night before as well, it was pretty easy and I've drank worse (when I used to have to use the phospho-soda which I don't think GI's now a days advise to use, too hard on the insides and can cause a little inflammation due to being too harsh)....I find drinking the prep with a straw helpful as well then you don't taste it as much either....and making sure your water for the prep is kept cold in the fridge so when you mix the movieprep it's recommended to keep it cold so I would drink it accordingly and then put it in the fridge for a bit to let it cool and then continue drinking cuz you're not suppose to guzzle it based on the instructions I got.
It is a really good idea to eat light/liquids at least a day or 2 before prepping as it can cut the cramping from the prep way down, for me I don't even get any cramps by doing a light diet 2 days before prepping and the less that goes in over those two days, the less to come out on prep day which is a huge bonus cuz it cuts out (or way down) on sore butt and the risk of getting fissures on the anus) it's still a good idea to have wet wipes in case you need to soothe your tushy while the prep is running through you...sitz baths with epsom salt is good too!!
Good luck with it all and your scope!!

My last one they prescribed Pikoprep (spelling may be off). It was way better than the other ones I used- much smaller volume to drink and I didn't get all nauseous and shaky. It also didn't feel as- well, violent as others.

I use two 10-oz bottles of mag citrate. Not too bad to gulp down. Liquid diet the day before. Drink lots of water and clear fluids upto midnight.
no nausea. lots of water out the butt.

I have a colonoscopy scheduled (again) for Thursday of this week and they gave me Movi Prep. The copay to get it from the Pharmacy was $50- what a crock! I've used it before tho and it all comes out at once. Altho I drink it all at once. Once it starts coming out clear- or yellow, you're pretty much emptied, so the nurse told me before. I guzzle that stuff down so fast just bc I hate that it so much. I curse the doc the entire time. Vaseline on the butt helps so it's not too sore every time you wipe.
I always am afraid I'm gonna pass out from not drinking or eating anything. Sometimes I almost wish I would just so my doc would be like ok- yea this sucks, i know, you don't have to do this again. Let's just treat your symptoms. But they never do. I hate going- absolutely hate it

First scope I had was Osmoprep. 4 horse pills every half hour until you've taken all 32. Worst dehydration I've ever felt. Couldn't have the liquid because I'm allergic to something in it. Insurance doesn't cover Osmoprep - $115. Next 2 times was with a different dr and I did the miralax/dulcolax. I don't mind it. I've heard lots of people do a liquid diet the day before prep too but honestly, I've never really finished the prep and I've been fine lol. I get through one Gatorade/miralax over the 2 hours and then the next one I kinda just sip until midnight and then dump it out.

I also used Moviprep, drink it cold with a straw so you can't taste it.
It cost me $82.00 after my co- pay.was worth , didn't get nausea and was cleaned out quick

I start prepping a week before (food). I do the miralax, dulolax and Gatorade. This last one I drank white grape juice.
