Normal with gas to have shoulder pain if it's in the right place (usually splenic or hepatic flexures).
You could consider change in diet since some foods sure cause tons of gas for me), but during a flare it's certainly noticeable and meds (rectal/oral) as well as antispasmodic Bentylol helps a lot.
Is there a certain time of the day that it's worse?
Tummy massage in the direction from lower right, up, across, down left and slightly in to center once you reach the hip bone helps to move the gas along.
As well...tummy down on a Swedish exercise ball works too.
