almost 4 months flaring use to kick it in three weeks on 4 lialda rowasa enimas and 40 mg prednisone
last flare was a year sgo kick 3 weeks on above meds this flare started march, did same meds with good results right up to my colonospy 2 days later went the other way real bad with blood and mucus 3 flases a day went up to 60mg prednisone for 2 weeks with no change back to 40mg last week called gi doc said nothing is working changed from lialda to apriso blod seems less still have diareia asked him if i can do a steriod enema being my problem is at the bottom of colon/ rectum he said nah stay on what ur doing as we all n
know prednisone is horroble cant go to the gym sleppnes tacky heart rithym has anyone gotten off prednisone and got better? no alchol no dairy really eat nothing been off work 2 weeks burning sick days have to get back to work but have to get on a train = fear lol help

if the drugs you are on now arent working you need to try something else
call your GI and tell him, this isnot working please give another solution becuase you cannot function like this

Sounds like you would go into remission and then quit taking meds until you flared again. If so, that was your mistake - being on no meds during your remission and allowing yourself to flare over and over again. This is the usual result. If you reach remission again you need to make sure you continue treatment during remission. Of course that doesn't mean pred but good mtnc meds.

less oral pred and steroid enema might help - BUT.

The rational for rectal meds is largely to have them act topically at the distal area. For 5-asa, this can help a lot because it acts topically even when oral. So rectal can work better. Topical is delivered right to site.

For steroids, they are absorbed and act systematically. The point of rectal steroid is only to avoid side effects of oral - not to get it to work better. IF you are on 60mg oral, I doubt a rectal steroid is going to contribute much more. But, taking 30mg oral and doing a nightly enema might be equivalent with less side effects.

if you do get remission stay on some 5-asa maint dose forever.
