Colitis extended and feeling scared

Hi all, found out today what I thought was left sided colitis is "sub-total colitis" because it is also in the transverse colon. I am on 2g pentasa tablets and mesalazine enemas but the letter which is from a colonoscopy in may before I started with current flare says this will influence treatment if I flare again. Feel really frightened, what meds do you think they will move me on to? Have been in a flare for 7 weeks, currently 7bms a day, 2 kind of formed and bleeding only slight. They want me to go into hospital for another sig next week if not recovered....thanks everyone, I think you are the only people who really understand.

Max dose for Pentasa is usually four grams per day but max dose for mesalamine is 4.8 per day. You should be taking the four grams anyway but it wouldn't hurt to take 4.5 or even five. If your doc only has you on 2 grams per day while it's spreading then that's ridiculous.

I do agree your being undertreated with your oral meds. I would think that is a maintenance dose if you aren't flaring which you obviously are. I wouldn't do the sig either this quickly. If your still flaring there really is no point and if your not having symptoms then leave it for awhile. I think doctors just want to make the extra money when its totally not necessary.
