Can I take Azathioprine and Mexavant at the same time?

I just tapered from 50mg down to .5mg of Pred and am experiencing symptoms again. I was on 4.8g of Mezavant too. Now the Doc is wanting to up my pred back up to 45mg and start Azathioprine. He went on vacation the next day and I never had a chance to ask if I was supposed to stop the Mezavant now. Any help would be great!

Yes you can take all of those drugs together. You should never stop the Mesalamine drugs if they arent hurting you

Yes, stay on your Mezavant as it will still help heal you. Combination therapy (that is multiple medications at once) is the best way to treat uc. You can ask your gastroenterologist about discontinuing mezavant, after you're both off of prednisone and Azathioprine has reached therapeutic range (2-3 months minimum). However he/she might still say no
