What do you do with extra Humira?

I just realized I have a crazy amount of Humira pens in the back of our fridge.  I forgot that before I stopped it in February that I had just refilled and I was on weekly getting refills for 3 months at a time!

Can a pharmacy dispose of these?  Not sure what to do with all of them.  I know I can't just toss them or empty them and I can't give them to another patient.   Anyone have unused injectable meds they had to dispose of?

You can see if your doctors office will dispose of them in their Sharpes container.

I gave my GIs office my unused, unopened Simponi and I imagine they gave them to patients who needed them.

Must be nice to be allowed to get 3 refills at a time, my pharmacy/Progress seems to be very anal about when they allow me to pick up refills, only allowed to a few days before I'm due to taking my shot. I'm gonna have to talk to them about this cuz that's ridiculous.

In Canada you're suppose to take un-used meds/expired meds to the pharmacy for proper disposal.

Thanks, I think I will try my GI's office first, I have 12 shots, it would be a shame to just have a pharmacy dispose of it if someone could use it!

I am lucky with my new insurance, when they said I could do the weekly at 3 months a refill I was shocked! So with the Humira co pay assistance I only had to pay $5 for 12 shots!

That's a pretty good price
Well remistart is paying a good portion of my deductible come January so I can't complain either

I have almost a whole prescription of lialda and I feel really bad to get rid of it
I wish there was a way I could give it to someone

i have so much stuff that I need to dispose of. It is a shame but there is really no safe way to give it away. For the person giving, if something happened to the person you gave it to, you could get in a lot of trouble. You do not know whether they have a prescription or an allergy... it's not a smart risk to take.
