Antibiotics kill many bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract both good and bad ones. Many bad ones, like cdiff, are opportunistic and are able to reproduce rapidly in situations like that. It may or may not be cdiff, but testing your stool does make a lot of sense.
Uceris will not help if cdiff is the cause. But uceris will help if it's inflammation due to a uc flare. Your gastroenterologist is taking a two pronged approach. Depending on the results of the stool test, you might be asked to stop uceris.
Often a scope (a colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy) is done when uc symptoms worsten.
