Heavier Bleeding?

So today I got a decent cut on my finger but normally it's very easy for to get it to stop bleeding
Today I grabbed a paper towel and wrapped of tightly and went to get a bandaid
Seconds later the paper towel was totally soaked thru with blood
I got the bleeding to stop by now
But is this related to UC or meds or something
It's my first time getting cut since UC and I didn't have that problem before
Anyone else experience this

It could be related to it all somehow. It would be a good idea to get a CBC with platelet count. You can get this done many places. Probably your regular doctor's office would be the best.

I just checked my last cbc w platelets was on June 3 and my platelets were 403
Normal is 150-450
But I am having a tad more bleeding since than
What else in the Cbc would indicate heavier bleeding or difficulty in slowing it down?

It could've just been a deeper cut than usual. The uc medications do not thin your blood at all, if they did then that would make bleeding more pronounced. Platelets in your blood are involved in blood clotting, it's possible that uc or your medications have changed your platelet count. If you have any recent blood test results, I'd check your Complete Blood Count (CBC). Look for Platelet count and Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) and make sure they're in range. If either are low, it might explain the trouble clotting.

I too am thinking deeper cut, or just in the right place.

mesalamines are related to asprin, but I don;t know if they even thing the blood as much as asprin, which is not a lot to begin with.

Yup you were right my mpv was low (9.2 9 is the lowest normal) it was normal range though
I have been having some more blood it my stool since I last took that blood test so it might be even lower

finger wounds bleed a lot. i don't think it's related to UC at all. i've sliced my fingertips off 3 times this year and they usually bleed for at least 1-2 hours before stopping.

thanks guys. At this point I don't know when something is normal or UC related anymore

I would just keep an eye on any kind of bleeding, paricularly easy bruising. If it happens anymore I would recheck your platelet count. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.
